BE LIKE WATER AND FLOW
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said water is fluid, soft, and yielding. Nothing in the world is as smooth and yielding as water, yet nothing can surpass it for dissolving the rigid and inflexible.
Be like Water is a reminder to find a way of not struggling but flowing.
The wheel of the year has much to teach about managing our energies. In the dark of the winter, all of nature is in a state of stillness and hibernation. Water is the element for winter, so practicing and maintaining internal warmth throughout the organs makes the movements more fluid and comforting. During the winter months, the earth is in a state of hibernation. This winter is the best time of year to conserve your energy and heal, so by spring, you are prepared for more activity and longer days. One of the most beautiful practices for the winter is to attune our energy with meditation. Finding time for quietude and a soft landing will allow your body to remember "wellness" to carry you through the rest of the seasons.
Calmness is essential for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It allows us to recharge, think deeply, and connect with ourselves and the world. Incorporating moments of stillness into our daily lives can lead to a more balanced, peaceful, and fulfilling existence.
February Qigong offers us a way - to feel and experience tranquility. We have to move in ways that allow and prepare the body, mind, spirit, and energy to soften all our rough edges, find that deep place of rest, and accept that relaxation is not a punishment but a way of life. It's part of the doing and the non-doing, the yin and the yang.
It's receiving true love from ourselves. So give yourself or a loved one this gift as we continue to Journey Around the Winter Season.
In February, I'll share more resources to support you during this transformation time of year.
