LETTING GO TO FEEL THE FLOW
With the seasons turning towards autumn, the trees lose their leaves, growth slows down, and the golden light of summer makes way for a darker time of year. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, a Qigong practice is an elixir for vitality to last you a lifetime. We are designed to flow in cycles and patterns in attunement with nature.
Qigong is an energy-based practice. Energy is the key to self-healing, and it's a natural medicine for the whole self, body, mind, and spirit. As humans, we are the center of this entire energy field. Each season helps us re-pattern our energies to harmonize with each phase and element of the changing weather. We are now in the metal element time of year. Metal is about cutting away. This metaphor means being open to letting go of what does not serve us any longer. In letting go, there is a feeling of grief. Grief affects our lungs, large intestines, and immune system, our suit of armor from pathogens to get in. The lungs protect our hearts. The lungs affect our breathing. So, in a Qigong practice, we connect the dots to help us feel at home with these changes. We start to notice how to coexist with the energy all around us.
All my classes include gentle Qigong movements, breath awareness, guided meditation, an openness to self-awareness, and a deep dive into what each season teaches us. This practice maps the body, mind, spirit, and energy as an interrelated web of interaction and relationships. It relies on the principle that a part can only be explained by looking at the whole.
