JOURNEY AROUND THE SPRING SEASON

Online Zoom Community-based Qigong class

"Emerge from the Soil"

Over the next few weeks, nature will transition from winter to spring. With the change of seasons, nature's energy and how we move, feel and think will also change. The Five Element Framework provides an overview of the organs, sensory organs, body tissues, taste, and environmental factors we must consider to adapt quickly and align our energy with a new season.

Every season has a gift to offer, and spring gifts are about growth and rebirth and slowly emerging from winter's hibernation with more energy and vitality. But not too fast; we must emerge slowly from the winter slumber and pay attention to our Liver, gallbladder, and appropriate movements. The energy of winter was down, quiet, and meditative. Spring's energy is outward and germinating new ideas and new growth. Spring will feel refreshing if you practice and embrace winter's message of rest and restoration.

Spring is associated with the Wood Element, which has strength, resilience, and flexibility qualities. The connective tissues (fascia and tendons) related to this element are the body's connective tissues. We know these connective tissues must be muscular and elastic for optimal health. Practicing exercises that strengthen and maintain the elasticity of the tissues becomes a priority during spring.

It's time to start opening our sails and hydrating the riggings to help us set sail this spring season.

I'll share more resources to support you during this transformation time of year.

This Zoom online class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I limit this class to fifteen students. It is more in-depth teaching and community-based, so I open the course 10 minutes before and after for open dialogue.

Qigong is a well-rounded practice, so I will share more in-depth self-care practices for the Spring Season and what they offer for your body, mind, and spirit.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The first 10 minutes describe what the class will focus on, along with setting your intention for what you need from the practice.
  • Thirty to forty minutes of movements include a warm-up, gentle healing, and seasonal and functional Qigong movements to energize all your systems.
  • Ten minutes of a Taichi flow, connecting your whole self and creating harmony.
  • Brief meditation and intention to move into the next moment of your day.
  • I allow time for questions and comments to explain the practice further.
  • You will receive Tuesday's recording to practice on your own.

Debbie Belaus is an online certified Qigong teacher specializing in the older population.
